We asked Peter Roussel: What does byoga mean?

“After all this inquiry I found a solid base of experience and competency for my intuitive teaching style which I have called ‘byoga’ for the purposes of distinction.
I mixed two old Sanscrit words:
-
‘B’ from ‘Bhoga’, which is when yogic powers are gained but the yogi remains trapped to the world of sense pleasure / gratification.
AND
‘Yoga’, meaning to ‘Yoke’ or harness. Yogic practice gives powers that can aid one is seeing the sense of individual-doer-ship and the divine creator are the same. It’s like one sees oneself as part of the whole, one senses non conceptual wholeness.
byoga is a mixing the pleasure of the senses (not turning your back on the world) and the experience of being truly whole (yoga). The name aptly reflects the from of the practice that is both serious and playful.”
Techniques and attitudes that stimulate you to enjoy life and find your place in it wholeheartedly are what byoga was born to share with you.
